There are two different types of termites in our area: subterranean and damp wood termites. Damp wood termites are not a cause for major alarm.
Usually the problem is moisture in the wood they are infesting. Therefore if you remove the moisture and source of moisture the termites will leave. Subterranean termites need to be treated and monitored. If you think you have termites it is very inexpensive to have a qualified pest technician inspect your home or office. Sometimes termites will leave the area and return to feed at later date. So if there are no active termites at the time of inspection there will be evidence that they were there. It is strongly recommended that if there is evidence that subterranean termites have been in the area to install monitors and monitor on quarterly intervals to insure that they do not infest your home again.
